“United Front Games” moved into our mix stage for a week this month, tweaking some sounds in their upcoming video game “Sleeping Dogs”. It hits stores on August 14th – grab a copy and support an awesome local gaming company!

Digital Post Services from L.A. made a home up in our mix theatre this month, here in town working on “Maximum Conviction” and “True Justice”.

Digital Post Services from L.A. made a home up in our mix theatre this month, here in town working on “Maximum Conviction” and “True Justice”. Their stay finished with a cast and crew screening at the end of the month, which was a big success. We hope they enjoyed Vancouver, and come back to visit again soon!

Congratulations to all the UBC and SFU film students finishing up their semesters and graduating this month. We mixed several films from these talented groups, and definitely weren’t dissapointed with the creativity and skill portrayed in every short. Hope to see you all back in the studio for your next films soon!

Michael Greenspan is back at dbc this month with his next feature, in which two roommates with abusive men in their pasts consider murder as an option to help settle each others problems.

dbc wrapped mixing on Arctic Air this month, and we want to send a huge thanks out to everyone involved in the production of this season. The cast and crew were fantastic, and we can’t wait to see them all again for a second season!

Jo Rossi has been in and out of the studio this month working on the Omni documentary series “Pyros”. The show follows the adventures of an elite group of pyrotechnicians as they travel across the globe, designing, setting up and detonating heart-stopping fireworks shows.

We had a chance to hang out on set and collaborate with some of the folks from Bron Studios this month, and they are producing some really amazing things. We’re excited to be worked with such an awesome group of people, and can’t wait to get started on this next project. Can’t say too much… Yet!

Arctic Air premiered on January 10th, 2012 on CBC, and runs Tuesday evenings at 9:00pm. It’s already receving great reviews, so be sure to tune in. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the show together!

We’ve been busy with lots of ADR recording this month. Among the Arctic Air talent, we’ve also been glad to have Terrence Howard kick off the month in the studio recording for the film “Winnie”, and Tamar Kozlov was a delight when she came in to record for the children’s television series “Arthur”.

Audio post on “Arctic Air” starts this month, and all of us at dbc are excited! It’s nice to see some familiar faces in the post crew, and we’re looking forward to spending the next few months with all of them. Watch for the show airing on CBC Television January 10th, 2012. Ewan Deane kicks off the month of October in the dbc studio with a new Nature of Things documentary, “Programmed to be Fat”. Check it out to “explore controversial new science that suggests being overweight is not just the result of too much food, too little exercise, and genetics.  Exposure to environmental chemicals during fetal development may be changing our physiology forever.” Interesting stuff!

Scott MacDonald (Scottymac.ca!) brought us a Remembrance Day short for mixing, based off of a poem written by the man himself. Look for it in upcoming festivals throughout the month of November.

“Indie Jonesing” hit the Stage at the end of the month for some quality mix time. “On the eve of his dreaded 30th birthday Patrick’s life is paved with broken dreams. He is losing his career, his apartment and to top it off, the love of his life is dating his cousin. The bad luck keeps on coming, until a sudden series of accidental, felonious and even magical events change the course of his destiny forever. Now all he has to do is deal with the body…”. Ewan Deane has been bustling in the studio with a mix on “Nash – The Documentary”, showing at this years VIFF. Detailing the life and basketball career of Steve Nash, you can check it out at the Vogue Theatre on Tuesday, October 11th and Thursday, October 13th, and at the Emire on Granville on Friday, October 14th.

A new series will be starting up at dbc in the near future, and we were happy to get started with the promo for “Arctic Air” this month! Be sure to keep an eye out for the premier this winter on CBC, and of course, check back here for more details soon.

Next month, Screen Siren’s “Foreverland” will be mixing here at dbc, and we’ve been busy getting ready for the date. Lots of ADR to record, tracks to edit, and sounds to create. Looking forward to the mix!
