dbc sound and covid-19
From all of us at dbc sound, we hope you and your family are well and healthy during this difficult time.
As our industry continues to be impacted by covid-19, we want our clients to know that we still remain operational while adhering to the latest safety guidelines as outlined by the government of BC. As these requirements continue to change frequently, please email our studio manager Kat for the latest studio policies. We also encourage all our clients to reach out to us with any health and safety concerns they may have regarding any upcoming sessions. We are endeavoring to keep all our staff and clientele happy and safe, and we’re more than happy to work with you to find an appropriate solution to keeping socially distant while continuing to deliver the best quality work you’re used to getting with dbc.
Thank you, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the studio soon!
Madden 19 is here!
We’re thrilled to see copies of Madden NFL 19 flying off the shelves after it’s release on Friday, August 10. A huge congratulations to the whole team over at EA for another successful launch!
We had the pleasure of working on Longshot 2, the story mode for Madden 19 this year. While you’re playing, you can hear our team’s hard work in each of the cinematics throughout.
What’s your favourite mode to play?

The Sounds of Summer
Summer is in full swing in the air conditioned studio!
The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco is a new series we’ve had the pleasure of working on with our friends at Omnifilm Entertainment. A spinoff of the original British show The Bletchley Circle, two of the original cast, Millie and Jean, return to travel to San Francisco to solve new mysteries. Premiering July 25 on ITV, and in the US and Canada on BritBox on July 26.
We’re also welcoming back Travelers for it’s third season, exclusively on Netflix! This season we’re delivering in Dolby Atmos, which has been a fun new way for our mixers to get creative in the studio. We can’t wait for you to hear! While you wait for season 3, you can rewatch the series on Netflix now.
We’ve had several other projects in the studio this summer to add to the mix, but unfortunately we can’t announce them yet. Watch our website for updates soon.

Happy New Year!
We’re off to a great start in the studio in 2018. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency Season 2 aired on Netflix in Canada early in the month, to great review. Ice Season 2 is underway in the studio, and we’re looking forward to it airing on Audience Network on March 28th at 10:00pm.
We’ve got lots of things to look forward to in 2018, but they’re all top secret for now! Be sure to keep up with us here, to hear about the video games, documentary, feature, and new TV series we’ll have to announce in the near future.

Summer in the Studio
It’s been a busy summer in the studio!
We kicked off the year with Vancouver: No Fixed Address from our friends Charles Wilkinson and Tina Schliessler. Since being in the studio it has played at Hot Docs, DOXA, and in theatres across the country. You can watch the full film online now at the Knowledge Network here. Be sure to check it out!
Electronic Arts was back this year with their latest and greatest FIFA 18. With a continuation of the story-mode from FIFA 17, there were lots of cinematics for us to get our hands on. The game was released September 29, so if you haven’t picked up your copy yet, grab one now!
For Canada’s 150th Birthday, our friends at Screen Siren produced Canada In A Day. On September 10, 2016, Canadians coast to coast filmed moments in their lives, and sent the footage in to Screen Siren to be cut into a wonderful documentary providing a beautiful insight into the diverse lives of Canadians. You can watch the full film online here.
Shortly thereafter we had Screen Siren back on the Stage for Indian Horse, the screen adaptation of the novel written by the late Richard Wagamese. The film “follows the life of Canadian First Nations boy Saul Indian Horse, as he survives residential school and life amongst the racism of the 1950’s. A talented hockey player, Saul must find his own path as he battles stereotypes and alcoholism.” The film premiered at TIFF in September where it won the Audience Award.
Travelers wrapped up Season 2 this fall after a great summer in the studio. You can catch it now on Showcase, Monday night’s at 9pm E/P, and coming to Netflix soon! “This season, FBI Special Agent Grant MacLaren and his team of time-travelling specialists attempt to navigate their 21st century lives while tasked with the mission of saving the future from a dystopian existence. The Travelers will face their most difficult obstacles yet, including the Faction, a deadly virus, and a mysterious new Traveler, all while continuing to live the everyday lives of the present-day host bodies over which they’ve taken.”
